MCX Studio - Monte Carlo photon transport with MCX, MCX-CL, MMC, vkmmc and uMCX
Package: MCXStudio-macos-x64-github-latest, built 2026-10-31
Website: https://mcx.space

This portable package needs no installation: unzip it anywhere and run
the programs from the unzipped MCXStudio folder.

  MCXStudio.app
the graphical user interface (MCX Studio 2)
  MCXSuite/{mcx mcxcl mmc vkmmc umcx}/bin
the simulators: mcx mcxcl mmc vkmmc umcx; mcx needs an NVIDIA GPU, mcxcl runs on
any OpenCL device (GPUs and CPUs), mmc on CPUs and GPUs, vkmmc
(mesh-based, hardware ray tracing) on GPUs with Vulkan ray query
(NVIDIA RTX, AMD RX 6000+, Intel Arc), and umcx (a portable mcx)
on CPUs, and on NVIDIA/AMD GPUs where an offload build is included
  photon
one command-line launcher for mcx/mcxcl/mmc (requires Perl); it
picks the simulator from the input -- see "photon --info"
  MATLAB/
mcxlab, mcxlabcl, mmclab, umcxlab (MATLAB and Octave), iso2mesh, redbird and
        zmat (the data compression toolbox the JSON/JNIfTI tools use);
run mcxsuite_addpath in MATLAB or Octave to add them to the path
  Python/redbirdpy
the Python version of redbird; the simulators' Python modules are
installed with: pip install pmcx pmcxcl pmmc
  Output/
where MCX Studio writes its simulation sessions

The documentation of each simulator is in MCXSuite/<name>/README.txt and
MCXSuite/mcx/doc/; examples are in MCXSuite/<name>/example(s).

macOS: double-click MAC_USER_PLEASE_RUN_THIS_FIRST.command once, so that
macOS lets the downloaded (unsigned) binaries run.

macOS: vkmmc only checks inputs and writes meshes here; no macOS Vulkan
driver has ray query, see MCXSuite/vkmmc/README_MACOS.txt.
