Chapter 1. Introduction to Monte Carlo light transport modeling

Despite our advances in science, light is still one of the biggest mysteries of this world. Without it, we won't have the world as we know. Still, there are so many things that we don't know about light. Why photons are mass-less? why light speed is nearly impossible to exceed? how does it move in space? why it is both a particle and wave? could it be the ultimate form of life? imagine you can travel across galaxies at the speed of light and never age, isn't that wonderful! After all, we humans are just beams of light that are trapped in organic forms.

This guide is not written to answer all of those questions regarding light, because, to be honest, we don't know many of the answers even for the brightest minds of this planet.
